ROXY BEACH 2 - LP
I came across this recently and have been meaning to review it but it didn't get through the backlog until now. Roxy
Beach re-emerges with a sometimes acerbic, taut batch of catchy melodic rock meets indie pop. Low key observational lyrics
glide over a minimal but not totally lo-fi sonic bed of lightly reverbed guitars, catchy hooks, and an ability to be acerbic,
moody, and flippant without losing the essence of the band. What emerges from this collective is a blend that can take everything
from straight up rock to moody folk leanings and shape it into a sonic cocktail that's familiar yet seems to sneak up and
take you by surprise in the next song, whether via a change of tempo or the subtle emergence of a new instrument. Catchy,
driving, and unexpected this is a band/collective that should appeal to fans of underground/indie rock and like some wit involved.
Only available on vinyl as far as I know - sorry tape and CD/download only folks. (BOONE)
