RUBRICS - "What is the World Without Rubble" LP
Been interested in this band for a while so when I heard they had a new album out I decided to take a plunge and download
a pre-release version for myself. The latest from Rubrics continues their rough around the edges style of melodic leaning
punk rock as tool for social change. Short fast blasts of driving guitar and rampaging rhythms unleash odes that detail a
range of topics from apathy, casual racism/sexism/homophobia, the myth of the American dream, the role of slave labor in making
clothes, the struggle between anger and forgiveness and more. Part anger, part cathartic release, these sonic calls to action
reveal Rubrics to be one of American punk's better underground treasures. As band members veer into different directions
they won't be as active for a while but here's hoping this isn't the band's swansong. (BOONE)
