SLEATER-KINNEY - "No Cities to Love" LP
For most people news of Sleater-Kinney's return came almost out of nowhere when it was announced they were suddenly releasing
a new album. Like most people I was curious so when I had a chance to stream it (at the garage while getting my car inspected)
I jumped at it. This time Corin, Carrie, and Janet jump in the deep end with a sometimes melodic, often dissonant form hybrid
of punk and indie rock fueled by driving beats and sonic textures that range from ferocious guitars to the occasional synth
stab or arpeggiated low end lines. Lyrically, they examine the ups and downs of life from economic inequality to personal
relationships, the need to take action, to life changes and more. The energy level is full throttle, soulful, and refuses
to cater to anything but their artistic spirit Sleater-Kinney didn't pick up where they left off; they picked up a few steps
ahead as if they never left. Awesome LP. (BOONE)
