ITCHY-O - "Burn The Navigator" LP
I've been curious about this for a while but hadn't had the chance to really listen until recently when I decided to make
time to check this out. The debut full length from Denver's Itchy-O is a surreal sonic journey that is part marching band,
part electronic noise experiment. Blending traditional marching band elements (especially in the percussion) with synthesizers
and on occasion some guitars, they unleash instrumental commentaries that explore their surroundings without saying a word,
luring in the listener in the process. Each piece has its twists and turns that create a sense of not knowing what will happen
next and make you curious. They can be uplifting, disturbing, and even some of both but the album manages to avoid cliche
and build something that mines the gray area between genres to great delight. They're not for everybody but Itchy-O has made
something in this album that puts them apart from the pack. (BOONE)
