VEXX - "Give and Take" EP
Been meaning to get this for a while but hadn't been able to get a copy until recently so here it is. This seven-inch
finds Vexx offering up more of the driving raw and ready punk infused rock'n'roll that appears to be their trademark. High-energy
raveups full of incidiary guitars and fast driving tempos emerge here almost effortless as the songs almost blow up the speakers
in the process. Occasionally moody but always fiery, these songs strip away the fluff and proceed to mine the result into
a powerful rock machine that takes songs about being in between residences, introspection, and pure rock energy. It's one
of those records that plays the gray area of underground rock and creates something that can reach both punks and fans of
hard driving rock without changing what they are (in my opinion anyway). The seven-inch version is sold out (though if you
look online you might be able to score a copy from a distro) but tapes and downloads are still available. (BOONE)
