BIKINI KILL - "Revolution Girl Style" LP
Once in a while something happens that takes us all by surprise; this is one of those things. Revolution Girl Style is
the reissue of the legendary 1991 demo tape that began Bikini Kill's ride as one of the leading bands of the Riot Grrrl movement.
Here is the upstart band's rough blend of punk and garage rock at its germination, fueled by rough, almost serrated, guitar
tones and songs that are simple but extremely tight. While some of the music here would later emerge on their albums and
singles, their embryonic stages often show different lyrics or other subtle things that would change by the time they were
officially released back in the 90s. There's also a few unreleased songs that reportedly don't exist outside this demo.
Bikini Kill fans are already planning to get this (if they don't already own it) but those who are just curious or not around
during the Riot Grrrl era of the early to mid 90s should totally give this a listen and make up their own minds. (BOONE)
