JOHN GALBRAITH AND THE BROKEN PROMISES - CD
I got a copy of this when I came across the band's CD release show during happy hour at Rose Music Hall back in April.
The debut full-length from the band walks the line between vintage country rock and hints of pop song craft throughout. Acoustic
and electric guitars create catchy songs that range from personal recollections to love songs and the like. With influences
woven in from sources ranging from Gram Parsons to hints of power pop, the music here manages to take you by surprise and
draw things out with repeat listens. I wish I would've had the chance to review this sooner but other things got in the way.
It was interesting to hear this on disc after hearing some of the songs in various permutations for so long. If you dig real
country and country/roots rock then you might want to check this disc out. (BOONE)
