INTREPID HEARTS - "E.P." cassette EP
I picked this up after seeing the band play live on the night before the start of Memorial Day weekend but hadn't had
a lot of time to listen to it until now. Intrepid Hearts tear through a high energy melodic punk where rough and ragged guitars
blast through some breezily fast songs with a ton of hooks. Blending tight punk with a near power pop vibe these four songs
have a personal feel that snares you while sonically nearly ripping your face off in the process. It's hard to balance raw
fury with a near pop leaning ear for melodies but this band pulls it off with a relative ease that draws you in and compels
you to listen, if not move along with the beat. It can be risky for a band to go this route but they manage to hit it out
of the park and make you want to hear more. Intreprid Hearts definitely impressed me with this tape and a sound that should
feel at home as much on power pop podcasts as punk radio shows. (BOONE)
