CULTURE SHOCK - "Attention Span" LP
This was one of those bands I'd heard of back in the day but never had a chance to check out so finding out about this
album made me want to hear it. On their comeback album, Culture Shock blasts out a merger of dub/reggae and punk where rhythm
guitar stabs turn to blasted power chord punk choruses and chanted vocals. The songs are observations on the world around
us with topics ranging from the lack of connection and community to class warfare mentioned along the way. Danceable yet
slightly jarring, the music here shakes up reggae and punk, refashioning it in their own image. This album does give you
a modern look at the band that was the missing link between Subhumans (UK)'s hardcore punk battle cries and the punk meets
ska sound of Citizen Fish. Good to finally hear this band. (BOONE)
