SUBHUMANS - "Internal Riot" LP
I've been waiting for this to happen for years - the first album of new songs from the UK punk legends Subhumans since
reforming nine years ago. From the first note, they blast out the gate with a updated feel to the vintage HC punk sound they
helped create all those years ago (a sound that seems pretty melodic these days, ironically enough) with the requisite crunchy
as hell guitar for powerful, intense songs that kick you in the face and make you like it. They've lost none of their fire,
lyrically attacking war, the media, politics, sizeism, consumerism and the like with the passion and anger that, at one time,
was an almost integral part of what punk rock was about (I remember those days). Along the way they manage to include elements
of ska and thrash metal into their sound while not diluting their punk as fuck sonic attack. Those of us fortunate enough
to have been blown away by their live shows since reforming will not be disappointed by (UK) Subhumans' new album. This album
is a must have as an example of what punk and HC should be like. Now please excuse me readers while I go off and pick my
jaw up off the floor. (BOONE)
