SHAHMAN - "Fragments of a Distant Light" cassette
I picked this up when I saw the band play a few months
back and had been meaning to give this a listen. However, life got in the way so I wasn't unable to go through the backlog
until now. The latest from Shahman is a batch of underground rock that's both lingering and hard driving. Simmering tempos
build underneath bittersweet toned guitar parts on these introspective songs. There's a sense of mystery here as the songs
guide you along an audio journey that lilts along your ears yet has something darker and more foreboding underneath the casual
listening; creating an overwhelming whole that connects in different ways. On this tape Shahman creates a sonic world that
sneaks up on you and makes you wonder what lies ahead. While the tape is limited edition there appear to be a few copies
left if you know where to look for them. If you like music that turns hard rock and ambient mores on their head to build
anew from the wreckage then check this out. (BOONE)
