ZOLAR X - "X
Marks The Spot" LP
I know it’s a
cliché for TTWN readers to hear me talk about wanting to hear an album earlier
but not being able to because of work and other difficulties getting in the
way, but there are moments where that is actually what happens - this is one of
them. The second new album from Zolar X
in the past year fronds them moving forward in their ongoing intergalactic
mission to offer us some new communiqués.
Sonically, the band has sharpened their sound into layered space rock
where elements of glam, punk, metal and art rock are morphed into crunchy,
thick yet melodic songs that will snare the curious earthling and refuse to let
up. Blending hard driving guitars with
atmospheric synthesizers and lots of astro hooks, this is an album where heavy
and spacey melt over melodic appetizers and forge their place in this strange
galaxy. Where their previous disc Zap!
You’re Zolarized moved things up to date, this album chronicles Zolar X's new journey - a journey I hope doesn’t
end any time soon. (BOONE)
