RVIVR - The Tide/Shaggy
I was curious about what this band had been up to when I learned that RVIVR was putting out this seven-inch and decided
to give it a listen. "The Tide" is a driving powerful rocker that tells of an apparent end to a friendship and
being at a crossroads. "Shaggy" is a passionate ode to someone's departure nailed home by pained vocal harmonies
and a guitar melody that's concise yet could lead elsewhere in the process. Both songs continue the path of melodic (even
pop) punk that goes for the jugular and seeks to avoid the clichés that have haunted the subgenre over the past 20 or so years.
RVIVR put this out to correspond with their tour of Australia and Asia earlier this year but also offered us a compact slice
of punk hookiness at a time when it's needed. Definitely check this out. (BOONE)
