When this came through our direction we knew it would be something we'd have to eventually comment on. This disc captures
the legendary (and possibly the most surreal) guitarist in rock with his early band The Deli Creeps during a November 1990
show as well as sound check from said show and improvisational footage from 1991. Musically, The Deli Creeps were a strange
combination of pure guitar shred within a contest of metal cum alternative strangeness full of strange energy filled songs
that were as bizarre as its guitar tones were corrosive. Add to this a basement shot surreal horror video of sorts featuring
Buckethead on keyboards (yes, you heard me - keyboards) and you have some idea of what strangeness awaits - something that
has to be seen to really understand. Since this 8 mm video footage was shot, Buckethead has gone on to become an underground
shred guitar legend, join (and get fired from) Guns N Roses, and gain a following along both metal crowds and the funk and
jam band circles (something hinted at in the sound check footage with some groove centered playing). Obviously this is aimed
at a certain market as this DVD probably won't convert those people not into Buckethead by now. However, it is an interesting
way to see one of music's more unique performers in his early days. (BOONE)
