When I heard this was coming out I was definitely wondering what direction the band would head in. This time around, Mahjongg's
blend of electronic music with organic elements (live drums, bass, and guitar) is still here but the former is taking on more
prominence with dance and industrial funk grooves in many places. The result is an aural stew that can shift gears at a
moment's notice and take the listener somewhere else depending on the song's mood whether it's dealing with problems, the
police, rumors, or the like. Mahjongg's sound has always been a journey and evolution of sorts since their earliest shows
at the Ranch in the late 1990s and this album's fusion of their elements is another such step. Kontpab is one of the best
electrorock albums that come out in the past year. Danceable music doesn't have to suck - this is proof. (BOONE)
