One of the double-edged swords regarding doing a zine (especially doing one related to music) is the backlog one has to go
through when something arrives due to time and space constraints. However, there are times like this that make it worthwhile.
Osmantikos throws down with an explosive batch of HC bordering on grindcore songs full of guttural vocals, scooped guitar
sounds and a rampaging aural backdrop that's as hard driving as it is rough around the edges. The songs here are battle cries
against conformity, inequality (class and otherwise) and the security state as oppressor et al. That may not seem all that
unusual in this genre but this band is from Malaysia, which in many ways makes their challenges more difficult than those
an American or European band would face. This got put in the backlog pile and I'm kicking myself for it 'cause I wish I could've
heard this EP sooner. I hope these guys are still at it. (BOONE)
