I'm doing some housesitting now and finally have the free time for me to get to hear the latest from Sham 69. Right out of
the gate these legends have unleashed another round of classic short loud fast melodic punk that they've been known for since
the late 70s. Full of tight hooks and a innate sense of punk's melodic edge, their songs here seem to be sharp, direct, and
to the point, producing not just songs but potential anthems that seem to demand repeat listening (and almost dares you not
to sing along to the choruses). Some readers may be a little wary of this disc given the departure of longtime vocalist Jimmy
Pursey (who apparently co-wrote most of the songs here) but the band manages to carry their torch of personal battle cries
into today's time with a fair amount of ease. It may not be the summer of '77 anymore, but the music turned out to survive
and this album is a case in point of this being a good thing. (BOONE)
