OUR FABULOUS OUTFIT - "Die Stringband Die" download EP
I had gotten this a while back and was curious about it but had put off checking it out until I came across it. On their
debut, OFO perform a brief collection of acoustic based roots pop with a bittersweet feel and introspective leaning subject
matter. Blending acoustic guitar and mandolin with male/female harmonies, this band casts elements of bluegrass and early
country within a framework more in line with pop/rock than traditional American music. While what I described may seem like
a possible disaster waiting to happen, they make it work through their knack for song hooks and feel to keep things somewhat
fresh. I'm not sure if Our Fabulous Outfit is still around or not (one of the common tragedies about bands in college towns)
but even if they did nothing else this EP remains a somewhat intriguing legacy. (BOONE)
