D.O.A. – “Northern Avenger” LP
This
is one of those albums I’d wanted to hear ever since I first heard it was
coming out. Once again these HC legends
tear into a diverse album that ranges from straight punk to ska to hardcore.
This time around they sing of California, hockey and the adversity early punks
faced along with police brutality, corporate greed and the latest couple of
ways, delivered all the while with the band’s mix of anger and humor. Once again
D.O.A. reminds us that at its
heart punk rock is a far cry from the safe pop punk that the corporate music
industry tries to sell to us. This album
has spent a fair amount of time in my stereo lately and I’m not ashamed to say
that. A must have for anyone who enjoys
real punk/HC. It’s always good to see
them still at it. (BOONE)
